About the Teachers
For years now, we've had a keen interest in Yoga. The many benefits it bestows on us make us students, as well as teachers, of this ancient tradition. We received our training and certification in India from the Sivananda School of Yoga, a very intensive program which not only trains and certifies yoga instructors in the traditional physical poses of Hatha yoga, but also teaches them modern kinesiology, traditional meditation, and Vedantic philosophy.
Monu Harnal
Monu has practiced yoga on a personal level for many years. But after several years of stressful and dissatisfying careers, she decided to dedicate herself fully to what she enjoys most -- living a healthy, wholesome lifestyle. She traveled to India to increase her own self awareness and while there completed an encompassing training course for yoga teachers. Now, in an effort to "preach what she practices," she encourages and guides others through yoga and meditation. She will forever be a student of yoga, and is pleased to be a teacher of it as well.
Sonia Dhingra
The study and practice of the ancient art of yoga has been a passion for Sonia since she was a young girl. Ever since she can remember, her family was involved with yogis who would frequent the home expounding the philosophy and understanding of Vedantic principles. Coupled with this exposure, Sonia became interested in the mind and body connection. She received her yoga training and certifications from the Sivanada Ashrams based all around the world. Sonia teaches yoga, meditation and philosophy classes throughout the metropolitan Washington DC area.
What Students Say...
I would recommend Monu to ANYONE! She is a beautiful soul and an extraordinarily giving and sharing teacher. Yoga has become a business in this country, an aspect of the health and wellness industry so that taking a yoga class was no different than doing cardio or tae bo. THAT is what separates Monu from these others. She LOVES YOGA SO DEEPLY that it can be seen in her eyes, in her smile and heard in her voice, so that her students know absolutely (I know I did) that yoga classes are NOT business transactions but rather an outpouring of love on her part. I loved most of all the personalized classes. I absolutely loved those classes. The convenience of classes at a time that worked best for me acting in concert with that added bonus of the dialogs I was able to have with Monu allowed me to delve even more deeply into the practice. The private lessons provided for an even more in depth study of the postures and of the intent of yoga. The ability to 'sit down near' the teacher is the supreme manner to learn. I would enthusiastically recommend Monu to anyone interested in Yoga and would advise any students to try out the personalized sessions at least once, the benefits of that personal treatment cannot be appreciated until it's experienced. -Dameon
